Fun Thanksgiving Activities for Kids

It's that time of year again! The leaves are changing color, the air is getting cooler, and pumpkin spice everything is back on store shelves. That can only mean one thing: Thanksgiving is just around the corner.

If you're looking for some fun activities to keep your little ones entertained during the long Thanksgiving weekend, look no further! Here are eight fun ideas to get your kids in the holiday spirit.

1. Make a homemade turkey out of craft supplies. All you need is some construction paper, googly eyes, and glue. Have your kids trace their handprints to make the turkey's body and tail feathers. Then add a beak, wattle, and some feet, and you're all set!

2. Have a Thankful Tree. Start with a bare branch or twig, and set it in a jar or vase filled with rocks or sand. As everyone sits around the table sharing what they're thankful for, write each reason down on a slip of paper and tie it to the tree.

3. Play a game of Thanksgiving Mad Libs. This classic game is always a hit, no matter what the occasion!

4. Decorate t-shirts with fabric markers to make customized Turkey Day shirts for the whole family.

5. Get creative with some Thanksgiving-themed crafts. There are many great ideas online for making turkey puppets, cornucopias, place cards, and more. A quick search will give you all the inspiration you need to get started.

6. Pumpkin Painting: One of the most iconic symbols of Fall is the pumpkin, so what better way to get your kids into the holiday spirit than by letting them paint their own? Pick up some small pumpkins from your local grocery store or pumpkin patch, along with some washable paint, and let your little ones go to town. You can even set up a painting station outdoors so they can enjoy the fresh air while they work.

7. Leaf Rubbings: Another great way to enjoy the cooler weather and gorgeous Fall foliage is by going on a leaf hunt with your kids. Once you've collected a few leaves, lay them flat on a piece of paper and help your child rub a crayon over the top. The result is a beautiful piece of art that's perfect for framing and displaying year after year.

8. Gratitude Scavenger Hunt: One of the things we love most about Thanksgiving is taking time to reflect on everything we're grateful for. Help your kids understand the true meaning of the holiday with a Gratitude Scavenger Hunt. Hide items around the house or yard that represent things your family is thankful for (like a photograph of grandma or grandpa, a certain toy, etc.) For each item they find, have them explain why they're thankful for it. This activity will get everyone in the holiday spirit, and it may become a new Thanksgiving tradition!

Thanksgiving is a special time of year, and there are many fun ways to make it even more special for your little ones. From pumpkin painting to turkey crafts, there are plenty of ways to get your kids excited about spending time with family and friends while creating memories that will last a lifetime. We hope you enjoyed these Thanksgiving activities for kids!
